Just had a 3-way CFL blow out on me

Darn thing exploded after flickering a bit. Well, not quite, but something internal to the socket definitely did. Sent out one or two good size sparks while it happened too, but at least they didn't land on anything. Makes me wonder if something like that could cause a fire in the right situation, as most people do leave lights on unattended and stuff.

Glass and most of the bulb looks ok (nothing broken or indicative of physical damage), but the plastic on the base is discolored from white in the middle and was fairly hot when I removed it.

Bulb info on the socket:

A weird but fun dream

I awakened from a dream this morning that was fun but unusual. Was in this neat rocky desert with some concert going on, and was able to fly around. It was Phish of all things, and the drumset being used was red with "success" written on the bass drum. Also odd was some Mythbuster people in the distant desert messing around. But then there was something about beating the clock in time to wake up, and the dream being erased. So I escaped by flying upwards, but it turned out the sky was a ceiling. So a ceiling panel was broken through and running inside of the roof of some complex. All this time, there were these two people acting as dream police trying to get me. Managed to shove them off, escaping downward. Part of this big building complex was this dark and dreary (film noir style?) world I went back out of. Then found my way into another part of this building complex that was more like a regular office, and then escaped out the front before those two could catch up again. Then I woke up.

Didn't make much sense, but it seemed damn fun at the time. Better than the mundane stuff I do day to day in real life. Dream had more of a sense of adventure to it.

A thought on anapolar dark matter

It sounds a bit like aether or phlogiston, but if anapolar dark matter is a thing, then wouldn't it be possible to exploit the hysteresis effect as part of a reaction drive?

This is really cool though, because if dark matter is spread out and doesn't normally interact with regular matter, exploiting hysteresis on the anapolar moment would give a lot of free reaction mass you wouldn't have to carry with you. You create a specific field to exploit the predicted geometry of the fermion, and then like an electric motor you get pushback via the field in accordance with Newton's 3rd Law. In other words, if this can be used for space travel, things would get a whole lot easier.
